{"id":1035,"date":"2011-10-13T20:17:27","date_gmt":"2011-10-13T20:17:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/?p=1035"},"modified":"2011-10-16T21:18:34","modified_gmt":"2011-10-16T21:18:34","slug":"translators-rise-and-shine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/2011\/10\/13\/translators-rise-and-shine\/","title":{"rendered":"Translators rise and shine!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi guys!<\/p>\n<p>We know how frustrating it can be when your favorite distribution is not localised in your language, or half-translated, and that&#8217;s why we translators aim to provide a fully translated Mageia with as many supported languages as possible.<\/p>\n<p>We also know that Mageia is a community-driven project, and therefore the contributors try to communicate as much as they can through the blog, the website or the wiki. Still, those bits of information should not be reserved to the English-speaking users, and we must translate this content to reach as broad an audience as possible.<\/p>\n<p>You got it: as an international Linux distribution, one of the values of Mageia is to be accessible to everyone, despite the barriers of language. That is the purpose of Mageia&#8217;s internationalisation team (i18n).<\/p>\n<p>So, you always wanted to return something to the OpenSource community as a whole but couldn&#8217;t think of a way to do it?<br \/>\nYou can read English texts easily and you have fun writing well-phrased texts in your native language? Or you are not confident enough to translate from English but you would like to review your peers&#8217; translations to make sure they are properly phrased and spelt?<\/p>\n<p>If this is you, look at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mageia.org\/wiki\/doku.php?id=translators\">translators&#8217; wiki page<\/a> and contact the i18n team via its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mageia.org\/mailman\/listinfo\/mageia-i18n\">mailing list<\/a> or on <a href=\"irc:\/\/irc.freenode.net\/#mageia-i18n\">#mageia-i18n<\/a> on Freenode&#8217;s IRC network.<br \/>\nFeel free to hunt down the i18n team leader <a href=\"mailto:obgr_seneca@mageia.org\">Oliver Burger<\/a> \u2013 obgr_seneca on IRC \u2013 and his deputy <a href=\"mailto:akien@mageia.org\">R\u00e9mi Verschelde<\/a> \u2013 Akien on IRC.
