{"id":1148,"date":"2011-10-09T20:50:32","date_gmt":"2011-10-09T20:50:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/?p=1148"},"modified":"2017-04-06T05:55:10","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T05:55:10","slug":"million-dollar-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/2011\/10\/09\/million-dollar-baby\/","title":{"rendered":"Million Dollar Baby&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;or at least <strong>almost \u20ac 15 000<\/strong> ($ 20 174) since September 18th of 2010!<br \/>\nFrom this huge donations, it remains <strong>\u20ac 9 676.31<\/strong> after having bought <em>Tee-Shirts<\/em>, <em>hardware for build nodes<\/em>, <em>flyers for events<\/em>, <em>stickers<\/em>, <em>trips<\/em> to Marseille or Brussel.<\/p>\n<p>Since the begining of the Mageia adventure,<strong> <a title=\"Thank you\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mageia.org\/en\/thank-you\/\" target=\"_blank\">243 people<\/a> gave money to Mageia.Org<\/strong>, helping us to buy hardware, domain names, goodies, &#8230;<br \/>\nIt makes an average donation of<strong> \u20ac 62 ($ 83) per donor<\/strong>! Thank you to all the money donors or ressources partners (<a title=\"ielo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ielo.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">ielo<\/a>, <a title=\"gandi\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gandi.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">gandi<\/a>, <a title=\"online\" href=\"http:\/\/www.online.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">online<\/a>) but also to all other people offering in the way they want: time (packagers, triage, qa, artwork, marketing, bug report, dev&#8230;) or just by spreading Mageia arround them by buying TS or talking on forums, events&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>For now, you can follow how are used the funds received by reading <a title=\"Mageia.Org reports\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mageia.org\/en\/about\/reports\" target=\"_blank\">the report section of our website<\/a>. I think it&#8217;s just a lack of spending your donations or asking you for dedicated donations. As explained below, there are big expenses planned soon.<\/p>\n<p>Our next big expense\u00a0<strong>(around \u20ac 7 000)<\/strong>\u00a0will be for our annual upgrade and maintenance of our infrastructure with a trip to Marseille (to <a title=\"ielo and Mageia.Org\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/2010\/10\/15\/home-sweet-home\/\" target=\"_blank\">ielo data-center<\/a>) to rack:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>fiona<\/em>, our backup server (~\u00a0<em>\u20ac 2 000<\/em>\u00a0for fiona + HDD (only if we have to buy a server. Perhaps we will have a gift and so will just have to buy HDD))\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>a ARM build system for our <a title=\"ARM port of Mageia\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/2011\/06\/23\/arm-port-preview\/\" target=\"_blank\">ARM port<\/a> made by <em>rtp<\/em>\u00a0(~\u00a0<em>\u20ac 500<\/em>\u00a0for HDD, power supply, SoC));<\/li>\n<li>updating HDD of our build nodes (~\u00a0<em>\u20ac 1 200)\u00a0<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>adding a new server for offering packagers and QA a way to build package for test or to run VMs (~\u00a0<em>\u20ac 2 800)<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>+ ~<em> \u20ac 500<\/em> for train, car and hotel for 2 or 3 people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a non-exhaustive list! So we can spend a few more if we encounter a few issues. Indeed, you will be able to see a graduated scale with colors (red, orange, green) to have a quick status of our financial health. As a lot of people would rather give money for a decicated cause, you will also soon be able to see our forecast with a easy way to choose the line you would like to donate (all the need or just a part of it) for ;<\/li>\n<li>the donate page will be updated too to offer you a faster &#8220;donate button&#8221; and a way to make monthly transfer ;<\/li>\n<li>a goodies shop will be started to let you buy stuff to spread Mageia and support Mageia.Org.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I will write a new blog post before the end of November to tell you more about these new features.
