It is a maintenance release for Mageia 4 <\/span><span class=\"author-a-duz68zcgz69zd3q963pmfi\">which<\/span><span class=\"author-a-6cqz70zz83zz77z4alj2p97a5\"> contains <\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">all security and bugfix updates that were issued since <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/2014\/02\/01\/new-year-new-resolutions-and-a-new-mageia-heres-mageia-4\/\">the release in February 2014<\/a><\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">. In particular, the Mageia 4 ISO images were affected by a<\/span><span class=\"author-a-duz68zcgz69zd3q963pmfi\">n <\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bugs.mageia.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=12549\">upstream syslinux bug<\/a> which prevented installation using a burned DVD on some older hardware<\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">. Among the updated packages you will find the Linux kernel (version 3.12.21), various drivers for your hardware<\/span><span class=\"author-a-duz68zcgz69zd3q963pmfi\">,<\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\"> and updated software such as Libreoffice and Firefox. Another notable update is the fix for the well-known <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.mageia.org\/en\/2014\/04\/18\/a-brief-word-on-the-openssl-heartbleed-bug\/\">&#8220;Heartbleed&#8221; bug of OpenSSL<\/a><\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"magicdomid413\" class=\"ace-line\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">Please note that the Mageia 4.1 version tag concerns only the respin<\/span><span class=\"author-a-duz68zcgz69zd3q963pmfi\"> of the<\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\"> ISO images: the actual release that gets installed is still Mageia 4, <\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\"><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">with all<\/span><span class=\"author-a-z82z2vz79zz88z18z69zz122z0w52z67zpi\"> of<\/span><span class=\"author-a-6cqz70zz83zz77z4alj2p97a5\">the <\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">updates <\/span><span class=\"author-a-6cqz70zz83zz77z4alj2p97a5\">that <\/span><span class=\"author-a-z82z2vz79zz88z18z69zz122z0w52z67zpi\">had been<\/span><span class=\"author-a-6cqz70zz83zz77z4alj2p97a5\"> released by<\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\"> early June<\/span>. This means that if you are already running Mageia 4 and performing updates regularly, you are not required to do anything since your system is already up-to-date. The Mageia 4.1 maintenance release is meant for new installations and upgrades from Mageia 3.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"magicdomid10\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">The <a href=\"\/\/www.mageia.org\/downloads\/\">download links on the website<\/a><\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\"> have been updated, so if you were waiting for the dust of the release to settle before upgrading to Mageia 4, now is the right time!<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"magicdomid12\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">This maintenance release could only happen thanks to the dedicated work of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.mageia.org\/en\/QA_Team_portal\">QA team<\/a><\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">. They had to test these new ISO images on various hardware while also <a href=\"http:\/\/mageia.madb.org\/tools\/updates\">testing and validating <\/a>the <a href=\"\/\/advisories.mageia.org\">regular updates for Mageia 3 and 4<\/a><\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">. This was a daunting task, even more so <\/span><span class=\"author-a-6cqz70zz83zz77z4alj2p97a5\">since <\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">the QA team is under<\/span><span class=\"author-a-6cqz70zz83zz77z4alj2p97a5\">staff<\/span><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">ed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span class=\"author-a-n3z76zz65zz88zjz74zz66zz80z7wfz75z3z79z8\">As you know, Mageia is 100% made by its community, and that means that you are also part of those who can make Mageia.
