As <\/span>we’re getting closer to the end of the year, <\/span>Mageia has <\/span>a present for you<\/span>!<\/span> We<\/span> are<\/span> very pleased to announce the release of Mageia 5.1<\/span>!<\/span><\/p>\n

This release<\/span> –<\/span> like Mageia 4.1<\/span> was in its time –<\/span> is a respin of the Mageia 5 <\/span>installation and Live <\/span>ISO<\/span> images<\/span>, based on the Mageia 5 repository<\/span> and<\/span> incorporating all updates to allow for a<\/span>n<\/span> up to date install<\/span>ation<\/span> without the need to install <\/span>almost <\/span>a year and a hal<\/span>f<\/span> worth of updates. It i<\/span>s<\/span> therefore recommended for new install<\/span>ation<\/span>s and upgrades from Mageia 4.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new images are available from the downloads<\/a>\u00a0page, both directly and through torrent<\/span>s<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are currently running Mageia 5 then there is no need to install Mageia 5.1 as it is the same as your system, provided that updates have been installed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mageia 5.1 ships with many updated packages, including Libre<\/span>O<\/span>ffice 4.4.7, <\/span>Linux k<\/span>ernel 4.4.32, KDE4 4.14.5, G<\/span>NOME<\/span> 3.14.3 and countless other updates.<\/span><\/p>\n

The full release notes<\/a>\u00a0and errata<\/a>\u00a0contain further details about the supported hardware.\u00a0 The important addition is that 5.1 can now be installed on NVMe<\/a> based drives. Mageia 5 and by extension, 5.1 will be supported until 3 months after Mageia 6 is released, full details can be seen here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

This release was possible due to the hard work of the QA and ISO testing teams, as well as the work put in from the rest of the Community in packaging, tracking bugs and keeping up with security announcements. The testing of the updates and ISO<\/span> images<\/span> for all releases is a large job, and any help with this is greatly appreciated.
