Meet Mageia team during FOSDEM 2014

tower

The Mageia team will attend FOSDEM 2014, on 1st and 2nd of February 2014 in Brussels. We will have a booth in K building, first floor.

It’s a great opportunity to meet you, speak about our favorite distribution, the coming Mageia 4 (we hope to be able to release it during FOSDEM) and all the burning topics you would like. Mageia goodies will also be available.

As previous years, we will also organize the 4th general assembly of the Mageia.Org association, on the 1st of February, during the afternoon. We will communicate on the exact room and time in the morning.

FOSDEM is also a good opportunity for some quality time with other Mageians during Mageia dinner, on Saturday night.

For more information on all this, please see the Mageia wiki page and register!

Our friends, bugs are among us

A very happy new year for all the Mageia community and once again many thanks for  the amazing job done, for more than 3 years now.

Mageia RC was planned to be released yesterday but we still have some nasty bugs around. Packagers and QA team are working hard to solve them especially regarding GNOME environment, Nvidia/Intel graphical chipset support and installer.

We hope to be able to release as soon as possible so stay tuned!

Finally Mageia 4 beta 2 release is available for testing. Lots of effort was put into fixing the remaining blocking bugs. This is not yet finished but we are proud of the current results. Lots of work was done on drakxtools and classical installer to switch from that good old Gtk2 to Gtk3.

The documentation and i18n teams have also improved a lot of online documents and translations to make it available in as many languages as possible.

Your feedback is more essential than ever to finalize this fourth release of Mageia!

More information about beta 2:

Enjoy it and may you all have a very happy Christmas!

Take a (small) break before Mageia 4 beta 2 is out

As you may have seen on our planning, we are a bit late for Mageia 4 beta 2. We are working on fixing very last annoying bugs and testing the isos. The beta 2 release should be out very soon. Then we will wait for your intensive tests to finalize this new version of Mageia 4.

Stay tuned!

Second Call: Artwork needed for Mageia 4

Mageia 4 is nearly in place… now all it needs is a beautiful face!

We still need original artwork to serve as the official wallpaper for Mageia 4, as well as for installer elements, website motif, CD/DVD labels, and so much more. Your work could become the first thing people see, when they encounter one of the world’s safest, most stable, and best-supported open source operating systems.

We absolutely must have your ideas ready in time for the Release Candidate, but it would be far better to include it in a Beta release. So please, check out the Artwork Guidelines on the Mageia Wiki for all the hints and resources you need, to create Mageia 4’s new visual identity.

For release date and deadline information, please consult the Mageia Blog post here. Please submit your artwork to the Flickr pool.

Come join the worldwide team of developers, artists, technical experts and other creative minds that make up the Mageia community, at https://www.mageia.org/en/community/.
